Dr. Paul Abolo

Dr. Paul Abolo, serves as Executive Director at Empath. He is also the President of Ecologistics Integrated Services; a global climate change investment and sustainable development firm. He is the convener of Nigeria Climate Change Investment Forum (NCCIF) and the Africa Climate Change Investment Forum (ACCIF). He is the Executive Director of Connect Earth Initiatives and a member of the Climate Solutions Advancement Network (Climate SAN). Abolo served as the Safeguard Specialist Consultant to the World Bank on the Nigeria Green Bond, as well as the Country Expert (Nigeria) for Stantec on the Africa Development Bank’s NDC private sector project in Africa. He conducted the renowned study on Gender Mainstream for the UN REDD+ Program in Nigeria and was the lead consultant for the process for accrediting the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Agric Corporation (NIRSAL Plc.) as a Direct Access Entity of the Green Climate Funds (GCF). He holds the mantle of his firm’s Pan-African Ambassadorship for Carbon Market in Africa. With qualifications in Environmental Studies, Business Management and Finance, Dr. Abolo’s credentials include: Strategic Finance from Harvard Business School, Doctor of Management degree with specialisation in Environmental and Social Sustainability (ESS), MBA and a background in Quantity Surveying. He is accredited with developing several sustainable development concepts, initiatives and publications. Dr. Abolo has demonstrated capacity in advancing the global action on climate finance, mitigation and adaptation. Dr. Abolo is a global thought-leader in climate change advocacy and international climate finance. He is very active with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Net-Zero Target and Energy Transition. His work on prioritising environmental and social governance in Africa took roots on the assessment of material climate change issues, linking climate-related financial elements to inform governance and organisational decision-making. Dr. Paul Abolo is very passionate about assisting developing nations and their subnational entities to access global support for climate action and sustainable development. He continues to seek the development of the carbon market in Africa and innovative finance for “green projects / programs” and energy transition programs globally.
